MATCH-STYLE CAGE FEEDER. there are few more classic ways of catching bream than the cage feeder fished at range on big lakes. It’s the go-to method for match and pleasure anglers alike and still accounts for numerous big match wins, despite the advent of the Method feeder. At this time of year, fishing for bites is the name of the game.
2) CAGE FEEDER. These beauties are among my favourite feeders. You can do so much with them. They’re super effective in very shallow water when you need the bait to leave the feeder quickly. By the same token, you can do some great little tricks with them to attract fish – for a start you can alter how hard the bait is packed into them.
Dave its generally to do with people using 3" and 4" hook lengths and the feeder rubbing the side of the fish once being hooked. Most people using a cage feeder will use a 12" hook link so the feeder is away from the fish whilst being retrieved. A lot of commercials now have hook length limits as they too have seen the damage caused. This is an
The main difference between a feeder and a conveyor is that feeders are flood-loaded while conveyors are not. Also, while conveyors typically operate at a constant speed, feed-ers are always capable of varying the speed of operation. As a result, feeders are capable of modulating the discharge rate from the vessel that is flood loading it.

Initial feeding of the swim is sometimes achieved with a large cage feeder and no hook link, repeated casts are made and the feed is deposited in the swim by a firm strike (hook-set). The set-up is then changed for the method feeder with hook link. Alternatively, very frequent casts with the method feeder can be made to feed the swim. Cage Feeder. Cage feeders, also known as open-end feeders, are cylindrical feeders with a mesh or rigid structure that allows bait particles to be released once submerged in the water. They can be used in combination with a range of groundbaits, including pellets, seeds, and other loose particles. A compressor supplies air to one or a number of feeders. The supply of air to each feeder is normally shut off. Each feeder has a supply of feed in a hopper mounted above a feed distribution pipe, in turn placed over the tank or pond. Feed is allowed to fall by gravity from the hopper into the distribution pipe. Groundbait v pellets - Underwater filming has shown on more than one occasion that pellets alone on a Method feeder just get exploded off when the feeder hits the water and totally destroys the purpose of the method. For this reason I will not use pellets alone on a Method feeder. You may as well fish a straight lead and catapult feed over the top. LX7zfCW.
